5 reasons you SHOULDN'T have laser hair removal

5 reasons you SHOULDN’T have laser hair removal – it’s not for everyone.

There are many contra-indications that are involved with Laser Hair Removal treatment. For this reason, ‘Laser Hair Removal At The Bay and On Unley’ only employ nurses who are able to understand these effects, what causes them and can deem a person suitable or unsuitable for the treatment.

1.    If you suffer from any skin conditions such as dermatitis or eczema. We always urge our clients alert us should they be using any steroid creams etc. to control any skin conditions. In the instance that a client is using these products, we may choose to cease further treatment until these are no longer used.

2.    Any known allergies. ‘Laser Hair Removal At The Bay and On Unley’ nurses should be alerted should you have any known allergies. We use alcohol swabs and aloe vera gel throughout your treatment so please be conscious should you be allergic to either. There may be other allergies that could be triggered throughout your treatment. This is not a reason NOT to have Laser Hair Removal but is something you should be conscious of when having Laser Hair Removal treatment.

3.    If you are taking any medications such as Roaccutain, any other photosensitive medications or Retin A creams. These medications urge you to avoid sun exposure and/or can cause people to be significantly more photosensitive. ‘Laser Hair Removal At The Bay and On Unley’ will not treat anyone taking photosensitive medications until they have ceased the medication for at least 2-3 months.

4.    If you have any tattoos on the desired area. The laser used for Laser Hair Removal treatment targets the melanin (colour) found in the follicle of a hair. Going directly over a tattoo with a laser specially used for hair removal may attract to the darkness in the tattoo and cause it to blister and/or burn. Whilst these particular lasers are not used for the removal of tattoos, they could potentially remove some colour from the tattoo.

5.    If you suffer from herpes or cold sores. The nurses at ‘Laser Hair Removal At The Bay and On Unley’ are happy to treat anyone who does suffer from these conditions however we warn our clients that laser hair removal could trigger them to reoccur.

Please be conscious that these are not reasons for you to avoid having laser hair removal and are just precautions should you decide to begin or continue with Laser Hair Removal treatment. We pride ourselves by employing the strictest of safety standards and strictly employ nurses who are educated to determine side effects potentially caused by medications, skin disorders, allergies or other medical conditions. The knowledge of such things will provide you with safe treatment and the guarantee that you and the laser are in safe hands. If you are unsure whether or not you are suitable for Laser Hair Removal, organise yourself a complimentary consultation today.

As for all of our existing clients, should you be using any new creams or medications or any that have not been brought to our attention, please alert the nursing staff immediately for your own safety. ‘Laser Hair Removal At The Bay and On Unley’ staff feel nothing is more important than the satisfaction and safety of our clients and the education of our team.
